The Kuruppam Tomb

Lakshmi Narasamma the daughter of Narayana Gajapathi and wife of Vairicherla Veerabhadra Raju Bahadur of Kuruppam passed away and a memorial was constructed (The Kuruppam Tomb).

Regional Agriculture Reseach Centre was started in Anakapalle.

Queen Mary's School was started with a noble cause of educating the young widows, They were given a stipend of Rs 15 every month.

Andhra Maha Sabha

King Edward VII Market also known as Kuruppam Market was constructed by Rajah of Kuruppam on the occasion of the King's coronation ceremony.

Third Andhra Maha Sabha presided by Raja Panuganti Ramanujum was organised. Separate Andhra State demand was raised here.

Swaraajya Seva Samithi was started by Marepalle Ramachandra Kavi.

Hindu reading room was renovated G N Raju.

National Congress

Visakhapatnam National Congress was formed.

Vijayarama Gana Paathasala started in Vizianagaram. Later it was affiliated to Andhra University 1948.

Mahatma Gandhi stopped at Waltair Railway Station while returning from Vijayawada.

Binny company started a Jute Mill in Nellimerla.

Savara Tribe revolted against British for not allowing them to cut grass and Potatoes free of cost.

Red Cross started in Visakhapatnam.

Calow Whitered proposed construction of inner harbour by Bengal-Nagapur Railway co.

Bar Association

Bar Association was formed for the first time.

Civil Hospital which was started in 1845 was renamed as King George Hospital by Bhavanagar Raja. Raja of Panagal, Panuganti Ramaryanam started the Medical College, Capt F J Anderson as the Principal. The College was affiliated to Madras University.

Nataka Kala was published by Malladi Viswanadha Sarma.

Rabindranath Tagore came to Visakhapatnam to attend Kavitha Samithi meeting conducted by MR Sastry, S L Narasimham, Puripand and Sri Sri.

Andhra University was started in Vijayawada, C R Reddy as the Vice Chancellor.

District Khadi Board formed.

Dr C R Reddy became the Vice Chancellor of Andhra University.

Affiliation of Visakha Medical College was shifted to Andhra University.

Vajjhual Kalidas

A Hospital was started for mentally ill and was later named as Mental Hospital in 1877. The building was completed in 1871 with 96 beds.

Saraswati Printing Press started as an associate of Sri Sarada Makuta Mudrakshaala and started Weekly Magazine Saraswati edited by Vajjhual Kalidas.

Gangadhara a monthly magazine was started by Duvvuri Jagannadha Sarma.

Andhra University shifted to Visakhapatnam.

Gandhiji addressed a public gathering to raise funds for the upliftment of Harijans. Ayyadevara Kaleswara Rao translated Gandhiji's english speech.

Rajahmundry became the centre and for administrative convenience the area was devided into 3 divisions viz. Kakinada, Visakha and Ganjam.
